3D Model Construction

3D outclasses 2D on every level, yet most process design companies still insist on using 2D as their standard.

3D is faster and less expensive to produce than 2D.

3D also introduces a whole new world of possibilities.

Paradigm Shift

Our models are used in preliminary design as walkthroughs, store pertinent project data, are used to create drawings, bill of material information, and can be used to create concept art – which includes such niceties as life-like images, high quality video walkthroughs, and posters. For examples, see our concept art page.

Major Advantages

We have seen the advantage in our design philosophy above 2D design over and over again. Modeling from other firm's drawings we have found discrepancies such as pipe routes running through a doorway or steel beams, omitted pipe elevations, and equipment too large to fit inside of the room designed for it. These design flaws become very costly the further they are allowed to seep into a project.

3D Models can indeed be used to make high quality images, but its real virtues lie in the time saved and production efficiency. For example, once an object is moved in our model, it is moved on any and all drawings in the project. Once the data is entered into the plant design software it is available to project users now and years from now. Want to know what size, spec, or line number that pipe is? Click on it to find out. Our model is intelligent. Piping Isometrics and Steel Fabrication drawings are generated from our model. There are no discrepancies between drawings.

To learn more about the interconnectivity between our 3D models and drawings, see our drawings pages.
