PAC, Ltd sponsors the QC Elite Robotics Team, a local high school club who compete against regional teams in robot building and design. This year's competition involved pitting human players against robots in a Nerf-ball goal shooting challenge.
Students involved in the program are exposed to real-world problem solving and encouraged to take responsibility and learn new skills. The team commitment is high. They meet 3-4 times a week after school and on weekends during the lead up to the big events.
Our team was ranked 9 th at the Midwest Regional and 39 th at the West Michigan Regional.
It is obvious that team has learned a lot more than robotics. They have an excellent website, and have managed to procure support from a large number of businesses. The team has organized media coverage, including television and they also send out newsletters. They seem to have a very coordinated effort, using great communication. On top of that, they contribute to the community through charitible causes that they support. They seem to work like a professional business. Why wasn't there anything like that at my high school?
