What is a Walk-through?
A "walk-through" is simply a virtual walk through a 3D model. There are 2 types of walk-throughs. There are interactive (real time) walk-throughs, and walk-through videos, both of which PAC offers.
Interactive Walk-throughs
Interactive walk-throughs offer an easy transition from the real world to the virtual. You are able to navigate through a 3D environment at your own pace, and view what you want to see. Interactive walk-throughs can be a valuable planning tool. Discussions and decisions can be made in meetings with a team walk-through whether projected onto a big screen or viewed amongst multiple PC's simultaneously at different locations. The group can view the model and "go anywhere" in the project without having to leave their seat. Designs can be easily communicated.
Alternative designs can be shown, giving you the choice for the best option. At this stage, it becomes clear if a design needs to be altered. All disciplines can be involved from management, engineering, safety, operations, vendors and maintenance. Furthermore, walk-throughs allow those that can not take the time to read a stack of 2D drawings to be involved easily and efficiently.
Walk-throughs Videos
A walk through video, although not interactive, can often be more impressive when giving a fast paced presentation. A walk-through video shows 3D models in great detail, including lighting and textures. The result is a life-like representation of a plant that can look as if you are actually moving through it.
