Definition Stage
At this stage the concept and selected alternate has been classified as a project. Detailed information is generated. Starting with finalized P&ID's, the various disciplines begin their design cycles.
As the disciplines develop their detailed designs, PAC begins to modify the concept model into a detailed project model. All disciplines comunicate their designs to PAC for inclusion into the model.
The project model evolves into a centralized design information center. This provides a consistant means of error checking during the detailed design. By modeling the various discipline's designs they are checked aganist each other for conflicts and ommissions.
Construction Stage
The project model, which has been updated throughout the design process, now becomes the focal point for construction information. Detailed fabrication drawings and bills of materials can be generated from the model for shop fabrication purposes. From the model any view can be created to assist in understanding or clarification, accurate real world dimensions from any point to any point are readily available.
As the project is constructed, as-built information can be updated in the model. This provides an accurate representaion of the project as it exists upon project completion. This model can then be utilized for future improvements and modifications to the facility.
